Be lucky your wife didn't conclude she'd ended up with a stale mate, and knocked your bishop on the head.
But never mind that. There's important detail missing here. It's turned midnight. Dinner was some hours earlier; breakfast, many hours further off too. The tuck shop is closed. The bar is closed. So given all that, how many Arbiters were present when the illegal draw offer was made?

Makes my longest ever game (in terms of time taken) look rather mundane:
Thompson-Littlewood, J
1981 British Championship
116 moves
11 hours 20 minutes playing time
Adjourned 4 times (and agreed drawn without resuming after the last sealed move according to my notes)

Stewart Reuben was still in attendance, albeit a bit grumpy.

So, situation normal; then all tucked up

55 moves, most of which were just shuffling about...

! No, Yeo v Bellin does look hard to beat, but I wonder whether Miles v Brian Kelly, British 1998, might come close? I cannot find the game online but Miles gave the game (thankfully, just the end!) in his article on the event in CHESS ("I wouldn't want to launch a premature attack, now, would I?"). A memorable article, which he finished by noting that his marathon win over Short in the last round was his quickest win of the event!

It's a shame the word "incredible" is so ( incredibly ) overused, because just occasionally....
3 0 time control, Black wins in 271 moves with six underpromotions. There's nothing to say.

The underpromotions were silly, but if you read the comments you will see what was going on (Nakamura losing games during the 'match' to find out what the computer settings were, and then exploiting a 'contempt' setting where the computer gives up material rather than draw by three-fold repetition).

I was more impressed by the manual dexterity.

Oh, my mistake. I missed that you were *actually* impressed. I assumed a default setting of cynicism was on somewhere...
(0.664 seconds per move, depending how much time was left at the end)
