I'm pretty sure that 1 d4 Nf6 2 g4 is 'book' I believe it has an entry & so a name in the Encylopedia on Unorthodox chess openings.....
It does have a very tiny amount of point in the tempo gain when you play 2.. Nxg4 3 e4.

Well I suppose 3 h3 and 3 g5 are both viable? Though in a somewhat "I wouldn't start from here" way, admittedly
