Perhaps it's quite a lot of work to issue an invitation, or he gets lots of requests for invitations from people who then don't play, so he wants a commitment from you to play before doing the work.soheil_hooshdaran wrote:Oops...he emailed me saying that I should first register....I thought it works the other way around

Yes, but also, you'll be amazed at the number of enquiries one gets for these tournaments from people wanting visas from people with no FIN or apparent chess connection.Ian Thompson wrote:Perhaps it's quite a lot of work to issue an invitation, or he gets lots of requests for invitations from people who then don't play, so he wants a commitment from you to play before doing the work.soheil_hooshdaran wrote:Oops...he emailed me saying that I should first register....I thought it works the other way around

My URS rating is 2030. Does anyone know how it was calculated?
And for the categorization of this tournament, will my FIDE rating of 1756 be considered or my URS rating of 2030?

Your FIDE rating. FIDE ratings take precedence over everything else in this event.

That is of course the big question.soheil_hooshdaran wrote:So what's the use of URS rating?
If you want a picture of the future, imagine a QR code stamped on a human face — forever.

You sent Daniel an e-mail at 2:53pm on Tuesday. You've posted here that he didn't issue you an invitation at 5:34am on Wednesday, and a subsequent e-mail was sent to us requesting an invitation at 5:38am.soheil_hooshdaran wrote:I sent Daniel an email, but he didn't issue me an invitation.Alex Holowczak wrote:Yes, but also, you'll be amazed at the number of enquiries one gets for these tournaments from people wanting visas from people with no FIN or apparent chess connection.Ian Thompson wrote: Perhaps it's quite a lot of work to issue an invitation, or he gets lots of requests for invitations from people who then don't play, so he wants a commitment from you to play before doing the work.

I will leave others to judge whether or not this means he "didn't issue [you] an invitation", as opposed to "hasn't got around to it yet".

That's what happens when you travel from Iran to North America.

I received the invitation. Now what should I do?
It is my first chess travel abroad.
And maybe my first-ever travel alone abroad.

Presumably apply for a visa to visit the UK. If you don't have that, there would be little point in booking travel and accommodation.soheil_hooshdaran wrote: Now what should I do?

I've found an email on a website and emailed that, but I am not sure if I emailed the right person.
