Nigel Short Tour 2

Post by cjdemooi » Thu Mar 10, 2011 9:09 am

The next Nigel Short (and CJ) simul and lecture tour takes place from 15-27 October.

I've had a lot of interest but the confirmed dates so far are -

15 Cardiff
16 Telford
25 Louth
27 Crawley

4 other dates have been provisionally reserved and apparently Doctor Short requires 2 rest days (!) so that only leave 3 days open. Please let me know if you're interested in hosting an event as it's first come first served.

As before, a charity will be supported from the proceeds.

15 Cardiff
16 Telford
22 Denton
25 Louth
27 Crawley

These are confirmed so far with a few more provisional bookings. However, it's first come first served so if you want a date, it's down to whose deposit clears first!

We are getting material ready to promote the Shropshire simul (16 October) and would like to include on our website some games, photos or videos from the first Tour. I have seen some links to games from Bolton on the MCF site but would be grateful to receive any others as we are aiming to make this a very special event in Shropshire.

Does this mean both you and Nigel are dodging the ECF AGM then?

A slight change of schedule due to my filming dates changing. I'll be in Glasgow 'working' on the 15th but Nigel will be at the AGM.

16 Telford
22 Denton
23 Cardiff
25 Louth
27 Crawley

I'm still waiting to hear from a couple of people about the 26th and I'll post details about who to contact in the next couple of days (apart from the Cardiff event when you should contact me!)

I understand a couple of the above are already full for players (although spectators will still be welcome of course) and it's likely we'll be having an event in London on the 26th to accommodate the extra interest. If you would like to register, please let the organiser know as soon as possible.
I am flying down from from Glasgow in the middle of a fortnight's filming for the Telford event and to run the Cardiff half marathon on the 16th. As I'm doing the run to support Barnardos, I thought it fitting that this should also be the nominated charity from the tour.

Swansea to Louth to London is a bit of trek. Poor Nigel will be whacked out.

Some of you might be focused on AGMs, but in Shropshire this weekend marks the start of the Short/de Mooi Tour part 2 with the opening event hosted by us on Sunday 16 October.

We have 34 boards and counting, with the aim of getting 40 lined up against Nigel and the (faint) hope of taking the first point from him on the tour. Should be a fantastic event at a superb venue and complete with Sunday lunch, lightning tournament and lecture. There’s even a chess-themed cake being raffled. Final few board places available on first-come-first-served basis, and there is plenty of room for spectators.
