I wonder who writing is perfect very few i say. Its just anther attempt to take away from the points you are making Krishna.
Is it me or do female posters on here appear to get a lot of male posters trying to shout them down?
We need more female posters chess players taking part in my view and should be encouraging them to come forward and take part in debate. Maybe some do not want them to take part.
I like to see more females standing for office within the ECF after all there do make up at least half the population of the UK.

You can go round the country and see the same thing.

Certainly in England and Scotland. I havn't been to events in Ireland and Wales yet.

but you'll see the same thing. Parents sitting in a corner somewhere waiting patiently while their youngsters are trying their best to do well at the board. We bring them into Chess believing they have talent and hoping that they will fulfill their potential. We believe Chess is good for them and want them to do well in a fair competition. Along the way we all make mistakes, be it organisers, players, parents and children but we all want Chess and our children to succeed.

We know that at events parents are meant to be seen but not heard. We should know we spend scores of hours doing it.

At least allow us to have some say on a Chess forum!

Remember, we want Chess to be successful because we believe our children are talented at it!!

Carl there is something wrong with the personal messages thing.

People don't know they are getting messages and are having
to tell each other in the forum they have sent one and replied to one.

I don't think that is the case. The notification at the top of the screen and e-mail notification (if set) should still be working (no reason for it not to). I think this was more a case of saying in public that some of the issues have been taken to a more private venue, usually done to keep things transparent if referred to later.

I have never moved. I'm still in Bethnal Green.
Every now then I get a bloke who looks like me to wander around Scotland.

Don't lose sight of the fact that ECF is a company limited by *guarantee* and despite the word Federation in its title, it's clearly not a grassroots democratic organisation. Martin, a former insider, presents a businessman's view and Krishna a grassroots one but she and we other 'members' are clients.
Legal action was taken in a covert manner. Despite claims of collective/selective amnesia it was more likely conducted on a need-to-know basis. If it had succeeded we'd be having a different discussion.
