Am I the only one who feels that disclosing the current outcome of a ballot still in progress is most improper?

Re: ECF Player of the Year Award
One might think if it's actually somebody's job within the ECF to dream up new ways of making them look organisationally incompetent. The ECF player of the year award does seem like pretty fertile ground, after the ludicrous experiment with online voting a few years ago, they've now come up with a new measure that would result in a reballot in any serious electoral contest Still the whole contest does seem rather open to fraud if one was so motivated. The voting system is a bit silly as well IMO, but at least that isn't new.David Sedgwick wrote:The link has now disappeared.David Sedgwick wrote:http://www.englishchess.org.uk/player-o ... more-29692

Re: ECF Player of the Year Award
Well, up to a point, and I don't disagree that current scores shouldn't have been avilable to voters. But apart from the observation that it isn't actually very important, I am sure we can think of various electoral contests in which some results at least are announced while voting nevertheless continues. Most online polls, for instance (including ones on here) but on a more serious level am I right to think that some districts' votes are announced in US Presidential elections before polls have closed in others?

It willl be nice to see Keith win it, I am sure that the 2700s are nice guys and all abut how much do they really contribute to english chess when they spend 90% of their lives playing abroad?
Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.

Re: ECF Player of the Year Award
I assume that some voters will look-up the highest rated English player and then vote for that player. I could be wrong.
