Grading database problems

Post by Michael Farthing » Mon Jun 30, 2014 3:30 pm

Anybody else having problems?
I have heard that there have been quite widespread internet connection difficulties recently, but nothing else is failing for me.
Is it just that the monthly revision has generated a lot of traffic?

[Of course, if everyone reading this message goes off to do a test that's not going to help...]

Extremely slow, puts up the banners (in incorrect fonts). Lets me enter a search string, sits around for a bit until eventually I get a connection error. Been happening for about 36 hours now.

The grading application and database has relocated to its own server instead of sharing other ECF WordPress instances: hurrah!

Some browsers are not so good at managing their cache.
The cache grows and has to be reloaded each time a browser instance starts.

Suggest you remove all "cache" content from whatever browser you are using. You may wish to retain stored passwords etc.

Thanks John.

I've not yet followed your suggestion but another machine is accessing it fine, so I'm sure it is at my end.

Some browsers allow the size of the cache to build up to enormous proportions then attempt to load it each time a browser instance starts.

Eventually it grinds to a halt.

There seems to be a problem with the database website again, unless it is my computer.

Forgive me if this is completely irrelevant, but I find that whenever Firefox is chewing up a gig of memory it's time to restart it. I don't care whether it's a website issue or a browser issue.

Seems to be O.K. now. I was only getting the top line and no bar at the side to move the page down.
