ECF CEO in Aberystwyth

Post by Christopher Kreuzer » Fri Jul 25, 2014 11:15 am

I guess it has been announced on the other forum, but:

http://britishchesschampionships.co.uk/ ... erystwyth/

"ECF Chief Executive Phil Ehr will be in Aberystwyth today, and you’ll have the opportunity to put questions to him. He will be in the Students Union between 9.30 am and 11.00 am, then conducting an online interview between 2.30 and 3.00 pm, followed by a further question and answer session in the Restaurant Conservatory between 3.00 pm and 4.00 pm. The live interview/Q&A can be viewed here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00_Y7v6wJgI"

Online interview sounds good.

Actually, I don’t think it has.

They answered some online questions.
(Oh sorry Ben - you were ahead of me :) )
chessplayers are crazy when it comes to chess
but that's not to say they're not really good blokes

What was the answer? (In fact, can anyone give a rough summary of what was talked about?)

I think the question about women's chess and one about the role of the CEO were the only 2 answered from the questions asked online.

The role of the CEO, the respective Forums, the ECF and trusts, the website, women's chess. Think thats all the subjects that were covered. And about 24 mins 30 is where the women's chess discussion begins.

Andrew Martin said that if the leading women don't play in their own national championships, it doesn't help them make the case for the advancement of women's chess in this country.

Phil Ehr said that Jovanka and Sabrina were preparing for the Olympiad by playing in the Politiken Cup in Denmark instead (as is Gawain of course).
