Millionaire Chess Satelite Program

Post by Lee Bullock » Mon May 11, 2015 1:47 am

This to all English Arbiters or people capable of organising event here in the UK.

Was not sure if people are aware but the Millionaire Chess tournament allows for people to organise Satellite events all over the world for people to win free trip with all expenses paid to the Millionaire Chess Tournament. Heres the link. Would be interesting to hear how feasible and possible it would be to get some set up. Of course with he idea of having some for lower rated players for this once in lifetime chance ;)

Where do you get the all expenses paid bit? I didn't see the prize as any greater than having the entry fee paid? Admittedly you would need to win a tournament or two to be able to finance the entry fee.

Thats a huge shame if its not all expenses. Someone said something on Maurice Ashley's status that made me think it was all expenses. Even so if its only paying the entry fee that is still 1 grand towards it.

Looks like a clash with Isle of Mann - PokerStars. Lots of chances there to satellite in.

Well if anyone knows of any arbiters who may be interested I though I would put it out there anyway.

What you need is not arbiters; arbiters can usually be found relatively once you have an event in place. It's organizers that you want to be contacting.

Well you need someone that can host an event and is qualified to do so. Not all organisers are arbiter trained or allowed to arrange an event on there own.

Lee

What you need is someone with enthusiasm, who is willing to put in the very hard work that organising a congress involves

Based on your postings, and your playing experience, I suggest you look in the mirror for the ideal candidate :)

Lots of posters here have experience, and would be happy to offer you advice

Why thanks Mick. ;) I was considering taking an Arbiters course. But at the moment I am trying to get back into Chess. Just starting playing again so dont see taking any courses anytime soon. I would however help anyone willing to set this up or get it on the first steps.
