ECF website - A mine of information

Post by Michael Flatt » Fri Aug 21, 2015 4:35 pm

I've just discovered a menu item tucked away on the left hand panel of the ECF website entitled "ECF Resources".

It's quite a good idea but some of the documents are beginning to look a little out of date. Most of the individuals whose names appear here no longer occupy the same posts they did in 2007-10 when many of the documents seem to have originated.

I was surprised to discover an electronic copy of Stewart Reuben's helpful Chess Organiser's Handbook, published Hardinge Simpole, 3rd edition, reprinted 2006.

Some helpful advice from a leaflet on Junior Chess advises joining a Chess Club from about 10 years of age. These days children of that age are hardened veterans and are only a year or two away from chess retirement. I had to smile at the picture on the front which could easily have been taken in the 1950's.

There is a link to the University of Brighton library which housed the National Chess Library until earlier this year when it was put into temporary(?) storage.
