Agreed it is a poor advert for the ECFJonathan Rogers wrote:The new look Board could do worse than to announce the closing down of the official forum as a starting cost cutting measure. Its main advocates seem all to have gone.

That would be the normal arrangement

I must admit I’m somewhat regretting that I bothered typing out several long posts spread over a couple of threads on the chess and dementia theme. I suspect the Official Forum is not long for this world.Jonathan Rogers wrote:The new look Board could do worse than to announce the closing down of the official forum as a starting cost cutting measure. Jonathan I hope you appreciate that it is worth educating those like Mike Gunn prepared to listen and that those not prepared to listen have now goneJonathan Bryant wrote:I must admit I’m somewhat regretting that I bothered typing out several long posts spread over a couple of threads on the chess and dementia theme. On a more serious note, the voting membership on ECF Council are not prepared to hand blank cheques to the ECF Board. Potential CEOs with visions would be best to keep their dreams or nightmares to themselves until they've thought through at least the outlines of a prototype.

The Pierce report was discussed. You'll have to forgive me not giving details right now.

The vote results were rushed, but what I copied from John Philpott:
President: 295 for.
CEO. 119 for, 172 against.
Junior: 295 for.
Finance: 286 for, 9 against.
NED: Julian 269, Julie 281, Jack 22.
Home Chess: John 42, Alex 250.
International: David 141, Malcom 139.
Membership: 295 for.
Commercial: 74 for, 226 against.
FIDE: Don't have the figure, but suspect 295 for.
Chris Majer: 44 against.
Any other elections: all for.

Which reminds me, before logging off, I'd like to thank those who took the time to attend today's AGM and, in particuular, those who took the added trouble of posting the news for the benefit of the rest of us.

For those elections that have a smattering against (only finance this year) you wonder what the incumbent did to upset them.benedgell wrote:The vote results were rushed, but what I copied from John Philpott:

The drama in Euston overshadowed the publication of the board minutes for 18th September. Of interest are the President's views on the code of conduct complaint and the subsequent appeals. Whatever the rights and wrongs of that and today's events I hope that in twelve months time we can give Dominic Lawson an ECF to be proud of.

Well, my biggest gripe against the Finance director is that he could look more cheerful on the ECF website. If you're listening, David, get a new photograph!Andrew Zigmond wrote:
