ECF Newsletter No 11

Post by Roger Lancaster » Tue Jun 20, 2017 2:56 pm

I reproduce the following paragraph from the June e-newsletter just received. Anyone in a position to give more details?

"It's coming up to membership renewal time – Please watch this space in the upcoming July e-Newsletter for a special offer from our sponsors Tradewise, who are finalising the details of a free ECF membership deal for all chess players. The rates will be changing from September"

I assume this means a free insurance-related deal for ECF members rather than offers of free ECF memberships but the wording seems to me to verge, to put it no more strongly, on the ambiguous.

I suppose the deal could be along the lines: take out insurance with us and we'll throw in free (Bronze?) membership of the ECF.

I was a little confused by the reference to "membership renewal time". Presumably the offer will apply for 2017/18 though there may still be players who have yet to renew for the current year - the deadline for doing this (and avoiding game fee charges) is imminent: 30 June.

Tradewise have tweeted using their Chess News and Info page. https://twitter.com/tradewise64

Times Chess (ie Raymond Keene) has retweeted it, which is how I saw it in my news feed earlier.
