County Championships finals (particpants list)

Post by Christopher Kreuzer » Tue Jul 24, 2012 6:25 pm

Is there a list of participants in the county chess championship finals (Open section) anywhere? Middlesex won the title in the 1927-28 and 1933-34 seasons, but can anyone find out who their opponents were in those two finals? [Entire list gratefully received, but just those two if nothing else available.]

Try "BCM", "Chess" (for mid-30s onwards) and http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/

The BCM used to have quite a detailed report on the County Championship finals in those days. The match (there was only one because you couldn't have graded limited events when there were no grades!) would have been over 12 boards and the results would have been given in full. Unfortunately, I no longer have the BCM for those years so you'll need to hope another Forumite can help.
