Funnily the second link returned by Google is the Cheating in chess article on Wikipedia

It may surprise you to learn that I have tried this...

It's possible, but that doesn't explain why Kasparov didn't (unless I am mistaken) come out with a fulsome apology when he was shown to have, indeed, released the piece.

He was the world champion, he knew how serious this was.

Justin, a thought has occurred to me. Why bring this up now? If you read what Polgar and others have said about this, that should be sufficient. Is there anything you can add to what has been said that would change anything or produce new conclusions?

Because I went looking for the video footage the other day and I was surprised not to find it.

Sure. I should have made clearer that I was referring to the side-topic where people start to speculate about Kasparov's actions and what he should/shouldn't have done. You were responding to what Ben Graff said, but I'm saying we should all maybe avoid speculation about this, seeing as the footage is not currently available. It seems a bit pointless to rehash this right now. All it will result in is a lot of opinion and speculation (though to be fair, that is a large part of what draws people to a forum like this).

Mebbe, but my original question wasn't about the rights and wrongs.
