Nxc6 where White has sacrificed the exchange for a pawn and compensation.
A useful resource to know, as allowing Nd5 in such positions is usually best avoided.

"Chances for both sides" is usually author code for "someone might be winning, but I don't know who". In the particular position, material is level, but the pawn structures and resulting space are unbalanced. You can always ask an engine, but the assessment it gives may depend on the weighting its designers have given to various factors.

Here is the position:
White is a pawn up. If the advantage is only slight, the author must think there's enough activity and threats to eventually recapture on d5 keeping Black's game alive.
(Shouldn't you indicate who is to move in these positions? It might matter with the evaluation)
(edit) Playing Rd1 quickly looks obvious enough and then use your opponent's time to work out how to exploit the attempt to recapture on d5. (/edit)

He is losing the pawn.Isn't Be7 preparing the capture? (Avoiding the ruining of the castle position.)

Am I alone in wondering whether reproducing so many diagrams from GM Grivas's work might be infringing copyright in some way?
Also, it surprises me that the book wouldn't provide the necessary guidance for the reader to be able evaluate and understand the positions himself without having to post so many questions on them here.
