Can I Touch Your Face? by David Hodgson
David Hodgson, secretary of the Crystal Palace Chess Club, has written a novel.
Once I overcame my initial inertia to reading fiction I found myself impelled to read on. The story, in which chess gets a few honourable mentions, deals with family relations that should be ideal but turn out to be fraught with difficulties. It made me think about parenting - an experience I have managed to largely avoid - and it raised some awkward questions. Above all it is a good story well told. As Martin Smith on the Streatham & Brixton Chess blog put it - “Can't put down - gripping. Book well-structured - wanted to know what happened next all the time. You are not disappointed. Something always does.”
It has been very well reviewed on the Amazon website and has its own website: http://www.canitouchyourface.uk where you can read the reviews in full and buy the book if you wish.
