A little too late now, but it would have been a nice opportunity to have the 2015 British Champion automatically offered the wildcard.

I thought I had seen an announcement that they would invite Adams. Perhaps they are reconsidering.Carl Hibbard wrote:Howell as the wildcard maybe?

Planning is underway. I attended a meeting on the subject yesterday.Roger de Coverly wrote:No announcements yet on the format of the accompanying tournaments.
I can't give any details or any indication of when they will be announced.

Re: London Chess Classic 2015
At the Kings Place Rapidplay last week it was announced that Michael Adams had accepted his invitation to play in the Classic. It was also confirmed that there would be no Super Rapidplay Open this year presumably due to the increase in the number of players (and playing rounds).
I have provisionally booked a week off work to play in (assuming it is being held) the Open. I am hoping the extra days will allow a more humane schedule than last year's event.

Malcolm Pein has asked me to announce that there has been a change of plan. There will now be a Rapidplay Open.Matthew Peat wrote:It was also confirmed that there would be no Super Rapidplay Open this year presumably due to the increase in the number of players (and playing rounds).
The Open will have only one double round day.

Those travelling by public transport will curse the organisers if the double round day is a weekday and the round times require travelling in the morning peak.David Sedgwick wrote: The Open will have only one double round day.

Wonder if they'll have to abandon the stage with 10 players?

Adams is well class but is it time for a more marketable generation like say Giri and Howell?Roger de Coverly wrote:I thought I had seen an announcement that they would invite Adams. Perhaps they are reconsidering.Carl Hibbard wrote:Howell as the wildcard maybe?

Hitherto there have been 8 players and 2 arbiters on stage.Richard Bates wrote:Wonder if they'll have to abandon the stage with 10 players?
Now there needs to be room for 10 players.
Work out who is going to get ejected.

The London Chess Classic is now part of a circuit of three events and nine players, one of whom is Giri. The final place is a local wild card.Carl Hibbard wrote: Adams is well class but is it time for a more marketable generation like say Giri and Howell?

The two-day rapid is on the final weekend.
The FIDE open is at the beginning and, as already stated here, only has one double-round day near the start (Saturday).
