It's nearly always just a mistake, an annoying feature of live transmissions.

Sedgwick - Dilleigh ?

Black looks to have a minimal edge where the result is given as 1-0.

Is this a mobile telephone default or fire alarm incident of some nature ?
It is neither of those, but a simple case of the wrong result being shown. (Edit: I have just seen that Nick got that right.)

I offered a draw in the final position, which my opponent accepted. I thought that I was the one with the edge, but the post mortem indicated otherwise, albeit with there being no realistic winning chances for either side.

I can only assume that, when we were resetting the pieces, we momentarily put the Kings on e4 and d5 rather than e4 and e5.

Whatley fails to spot 48.Rg5+! So easy to miss, so obvious once you see it.

Ah I forgot the F27 and the HS748 and maybe the Heron, I have flown in DC3, Dragon Rapide and Dove elsewhere.

Last round starts at 0930 (groan). Top boards are Enkhtuul (5) - Hillarp-Persson (5.5), Le Roux (5.5) - Hoogland (4.5), Mack (4.5) - Reijneveld (4). There's several others on 4.

The GMs didn't have it all their own way, in fact Enkhtuul looked to have good chances of a win, but her opponent found an instructive way to draw. Jean-Pierre Le Roux looked a bit worried earlier, but then broke through to win. A bit further down, Stephen Whatley had a really entertaining win. Tiger said he should have entered it for the Best Game Prize.

1st Jean-Pierre Le Roux (France) 6.5
2nd Tiger Hillarp-Persson (Sweden) 6
3rd Altan-Ulzii Enkhtuul (Mongolia) 5.5

There were loads of other prizes, most of them multiple ties. Karl-Heinz Kraft (Germany) won the Best Game Prize - he should have won it last year as he played a splendid rook sacrifice against me to get a winning position. Sadly he then sacrificed the other rook and that one didn't work. So I am glad that he got the prize this year - it seems like justice.

In the Holiday event, there was a local winner for only the second time, and the victory looked as convincing as the scores suggest.

1st Gerda Nevska (Guernsey) 6
2nd= Denis O'Connell (Ireland) 5
David Turner (England) 5
Jos Heesen (Netherlands) 5

The 44th event starts third Sunday in October 2018.

Fred Hamperl is taking a break as Chief Organiser after 13 years. I should like to thank him for all his hard work during that time
