There's some sort of triangulation that gets out of it. Somebody in the chess24 chat mentioned that he won (with confirmation via a video interview) so assume that's true. I doubt the game ended with Qf1+ anyway (which would imply a black draw offer - unlikely)

Could be a mistake, getting the result right still seems to be an unsolved problem when relaying games.

The technology is error prone, particularly with the older type of DGT boards, but it's still disappointing that it has taken an hour or so to correct the error.

In the days when I used to conduct FIDE Arbiters' Seminars, I used to devote quite a lot of time to;

a) how to minimise such errors;
b) how to check that none had occurred;
c) how to get them corrected swiftly when they did occur.

winning move 27 Bd3! which would have brought him the GM title yesterday.
He was lucky not to lose after missing that. I guess he will get another chance next time England have White on even boards.

Perhaps, although on past evidence (and barring illness) I'd be surprised if he plays more than a couple more games, if that.

Unfortunate, but that's just the reality of being the reserve player when there is such a rating disparity from the main four boards. And of course the first round result doesn't exactly do anything other than demonstrate that.

Why is it that in these events the home federation always seems to field a number of teams which ensures that the total number is odd? I first asked this question at the Yerevan Olympiad in 1996.
