Magnus wins the open and Bibisara retains the women's title.

The arbiter did pounce in Nakamura's last game, presumably after 75 moves.

Carlsen again holds the "triple crown" then, though of course not for too long now.

Nick right in there with his crystal clear insights without bothering to check any facts. How unusual

What facts? There are no facts here, that's the point. I'm just saying that in my opinion the world will be a better place if the top player is no longer accusing people who manage to beat him of cheating. You are free to hold a different opinion.Matthew Turner wrote: ↑Fri Dec 30, 2022 6:36 pmNick right in there with his crystal clear insights without bothering to check any facts. How unusual

You say that as if he does such a thing on a regular basis, rather than on one specific occasion.
And the above is not endorsing his behaviour there btw.

Magnus is not retiring from OTB chess, it is just a Spanish traditional to try and to make fun of the gullible - like April Fools.NickFaulks wrote: ↑Fri Dec 30, 2022 6:43 pmWhat facts? He doesn't lose standard games on a regular basis.Matt Mackenzie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 30, 2022 6:54 pmYou say that as if he does such a thing on a regular basis, rather than on one specific occasion.

Ahh...so the end of December in Spain is something like our April Fools day.
I followed a link and few comments on chessgames. The link was in Spanish. I thought it plausible after he tossed the main title in the can. He can make more money sitting in his bedroom playing online games. If he carries on playing OTB then who ever wins the title in April will be a tad overshadowed. Even more so if they play Carlsen and lose.
`
(I wonder if he will resign both the Rapid and Blitz titles. )

I knew nothing of this so asked a Spanish friend, who told me that the official day in Dec 28th. Near enough, then.Geoff Chandler wrote: ↑Fri Dec 30, 2022 11:10 pmAhh...so the end of December in Spain is something like our April Fools day.
