Zh Jiner v Peter Large great result
White's heavy pieces build-up on the kingside looked menacing, but a horrendous blunder came on move 27 from the 21-year-old Chinese GM (she attained the GM title last year).

"I suppose one could just about put up with being called a "veteran" by a teenager, but by Roger!!! Scary stuff..."

I pointed out to Supratit Banerjee last weekend that I was probably playing chess before his grandparents were born...

Great result for the veteran Peter Large. His rating is too low. His reward is Deac (2690) in round 3.

Three Scots in the tournament. Two of them, clubmates, drawn against each other in round two.

Both Wadsworth and Large holding their own against their GM opponents.

Oh dear. Peter Large's game ended somewhat unfortunately. Though Matthew Wadsworth has drawn his game.

Dan Bisby has a complex but apparently level position against his GM (Prraneeth Vuppala, 2506).

(EDIT: Dan may be able to win with his extra exchange, now at move 40.)

While I would expect Dan Bisby to bring home the win now, things were not so straightforward for Dan Fernandez, who lost a theoretically drawn rook endgame. Which looks a bit careless from here. Not entirely sure what happened there.

Dan Bisby might be on the verge of another giant-killing against his second GM in a row:

No fairy-tale ending. Dan Bisby fell into a rather cruel stalemate trap when he was a few checks away from forcing resignation... (now level in evaluation, a pure KRB v KR position).

Dan Bisby will be aware that GMs are difficult to beat! 3/4 is a good start though.

He now finds himself facing Andrea Botez so his game is being streamed to more than 15000 viewers on the BotezLive Twitch channel with commentary by GM Jon Ludvig Hammer.

Some norms look vaguely possible. Maybe too early to start calculating those...

(Can the live-stream be watched back later, with the commentary? Would like to see that!)

Andrea Botez ("Canadian chess player, commentator and internet personality")

She is Not-A-Veteran (TM).

Should he have the right to refuse to take part in that? I think he should if he doesn't want to.
