Congratulations to Grandmaster Mark Hebden who won the FIDE rated open with 6/7, ahead of GMs Keith Arkell and Igor Rausis as well as IM Joost Michielsen. Jonathan Bryant won the FIDE rated major with 6.5/7 ahead of Peter Tart with 6 and Anthony Kelly 5.5. Amongst the many juniors who played; Isaac Sanders got a 2203 performance and scored 4.5 in the open alongside James Holland who had a 2189 performance.

It was also good to see junior coaching organised at the event by Sabrina Chevannes who also coached alongside IMs Adam Hunt and Jovanka Houska.

Simon Williams is playing for Rueil Malmaison and started off with a twenty move win with black against Radoslaw Wojtaszek rated 2721 followed by a round three demolition with white of Pavel Eljanov rated 2712 who was as high as 2761 only last September. He is currently on 3.5/6 whilst Simon’s girlfriend, Aly Wilson, is also playing for the same team and is on 2.5/6.

Congratulations to Gawain Jones who won the open with 5.5/6, a point clear of GMs Aaron Summerscale and Vlad Jianu, as well as Petr Neuman, Jan Sodoma, Colm Daly, Rory Quinn and Sue Maroroa who was the only player to draw with Gawain.
