KNSB Cup Final 2011 Bussum, Netherlands, 2nd June 2011

Matthew Sadler played board 1 for SG Amersfoort in the Dutch Cup and beat IM Jeroen Boesch in the semi-final before drawing with GM Robin Swinkels as his team finished fourth. Ironically his 1.5 was the only game points that his team scored in both the semi-final and the 3rd/4th place play-off.

In the open, the Sheffield team that consisted of Michael Freund, Peter Sharpe, Stephen Gibson, Michael Simmons and David Whiston finished with 3 match wins, 1 draw, 2 losses and 1 bye. The event was won by Dresden 1 with Moscow and Dresden 2 in joint second.

In the closed section, the London team of Alasdair MacLeod, Christopher Kreuzer, Neil Dunlop, Phillip Gardner and Richard Dunn finished in sixth place after 3 match wins, 1 draw and 3 losses. The event was won by Zagreb, with Kiev in second and Hamburg in third.

The event is being held at the Big Slick Poker Club in Purley, Croydon and there are three 10 player 9 round all-play-alls being organised with one offering GM norms, a second offering IM norms and a third rated event.
