That Chessbase report includes a picture of Jan Timman, who I wouldn't have recognised at all if the report hadn't identified him.

Ray Edwards is in the foreground of the third picture down.

There's a large English contingent going to the Czech Open:

Bogdan Lalic, Tom Wiley and Mark Lyell are playing in the A section.
Myself, Dominic Foord, Grant Bucher, Matthew Lunn and Peter Andreev are playing in the B section.
Gunnar Mallon, Tom Slater and Arun Ganesan are playing in the C section.
Alex Conway and Alex Gray are playing in the E section.

There are many Scots and Irish playing too which should add to the social scene!

Sounds like the prelude to an Englishman, Scotsman and Irishman joke...

Excellent results for both Isaac Sanders and Ravi Haria in Amsterdam. Ravi has just beaten a 2136 and 2200 in the last two rounds whilst Issac has just beaten a 2139 and a 2219.

I guess Adam might need to win his last game (against a 2415 GM) for a GM norm?

Sadly his average is only 2321 http://chess-results.com/tnr52579.aspx? ... ENG&snr=10 even when rounding up his lowest rated player to 2250 but in any case he has played seven Greeks and you can only play a maximum of six players from one federation. But the rating points will be very useful and hopefully some prize money too.

With a score of 7/9 you need to play a minimum avg rating of 2380 for a GM norm, considering Adam wins and on 7.5 his opponents avg rating will be around 2340 (including uplifting 2 opponents to 2200), I think he might be a tad short around a 2580-2590 performance

You can only round-up one player up to 2250 though, not two. A good last round result and rating points (currently gaining about 12) will be a big boost as he seeks his final norm and 2500 rating though.

True it is only one but here are the new regulations

1.46c For the purposes of norms, the minimum rating (adjusted rating floor) for the opponents shall be as follows:

Grandmaster 2200
International Master 2050
Woman Grandmaster 2000
Woman International Master 1850

1.46c1 No more than one opponent shall have his rating raised to this adjusted rating floor. Where more than one opponent are below the floor, the rating of the lowest opponents shall be raised.
