Re: England teams for 2011 European Team Championship
Computer thinks Meier has missed one clear win, but has now won
You would expect the Germans to hold their nerves
Azerbaijan have won 3-1
Hungary are 3-0 trying for a clean sweep against Bulgaria

Presumably a win for Sargissian hands the title to the Azeris, whereas a draw leaves the Germans winners

Looks difficult for Sargissian to win this. In other news, both Scotland and Wales lost 4-0.

And Gustafsson held the Bishop vs Rook endgame, giving Germany the title. Congratulations to him and them!

Indeed
Hungary beat Bulgaria 4-0, excellent endgame play from Gymesi to win the final game, amazing result, the Bulgarians will be pleased that Mark Howitt isn't Bulgarian

Moving up here too:
http://www.2700chess.com/
If the Bundesliga isn't rated until the end of the season, that would put Mickey 14th ahead of Gelfand and Svidler
It does make it seem likely that Kramnik will join Aronian and Carlsen in getting the 3 rating spots for the Candidates

Re: England teams for 2011 European Team Championship
Nobody has mentioned it, but Dagne Ciuksyte seems to have the board 2 percentage gold or silver medal.
In the list given on chess results there are several others listed with her same 75% or better, but the team lists show that almost all of these actually played on lower boards. Anna Muzychuk was Board 1, the German and the Ukrainian were Board 3s, the Pole, Georgian and Romanian were board 4s. The only other genuine Board 2 among the 75%+ players is Tatiana Kosintseva, whose total is identical to our player. Does this mean they both get a gold medal or is there a tie-breaker?

England seeded 22 finish 23rd (half a point more in any game would have given them 22nd, so not a bad performance at all)

Dagne was excellent, but I think this would put her out of the medals?

Re: England teams for 2011 European Team Championship
The board medals are by rating performance only, I think. That's what the regulations I quoted earlier said. Dagne's excellent performance doesn't seem to be enough in terms of rating performance, though as you say the percentage places her high up.Leonard Barden wrote:Nobody has mentioned it, but Dagne Ciuksyte seems to have the board 2 percentage gold or silver medal.

Re: England teams for 2011 European Team Championship
"We face second seeds Ukraine in the final round that will be my last match as England captain." Quoted from the ECF site, Loz's round 7/8 report.
I'd like to thank Loz for all the great work he's done as England captain over the last few years.
