London Chess Classic 3-12 December 2011

This year’s Classic is the strongest yet with Michael Adams, Nigel Short, Luke McShane and David Howell taking on Magnus Carlsen, Viswanathan Anand, Levon Aronian, Vladimir Kramnik and Hikaru Nakamura. The pairings are now available online and the first round pairings are as follows: Adams-Anand, Aronian-McShane, Carlsen-Howell, Kramnik-Nakamura with Nigel Short in the commentary room.

The FIDE rated open includes grandmasters Gawain Jones, Nick Pert, Simon Williams, Mark Hebden, Peter Wells, Aaron Summerscale and Keith Arkell. There are also several English IMs playing with a realistic chance of a GM norm.

The women’s invitational includes Dagne Ciuksyte, Susan Lalic, Ingrid Lauterbach and Meri Grigoryan.

There will be live games from each of the three events on the tournament website.

Play starts on Saturday 3rd December with the Classic starting at 14:00 and the other nine round events at 14:30.
