Wood Green beat Guildford 5.5-2.5 to lead Pool 1A after four rounds with a maximum eight match points. David Howell beat Nigel Short, Jonathan Rowson beat Tony Kosten and Nick Pert beat David Smerdon whilst the other five boards were drawn. From an English perspective the pick of the other results was a draw with black for Stephen Gordon against Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.

Cheddleton, Barbican and White Rose head Pool 1B with six match points. Whilst Barbican had a 4.5-3.5 win over White Rose, Cheddleton suffered a shock 4.5-3.5 defeat against Oxford.

Pandora’s Box and Poisoned Pawns head Pool 2A with 7 match points, AMCA Dragons top 2B with eight. North East England lead Division 3 North with eight whilst Wessex and KJCA Kings top the South Division with eight.
