England 1 (without me) had a great result in Round 8 beating 6th seeded Denmark 1 2½-1½. They now lie 3rd equal (6th on tiebreak) compared with their seeding of 17th.
Unfortunately this means that in the last round tomorrow they will be facing the top seeds Belarus. Live games starting at 8 am BST should appear at http://www.schachfestival.de/www_festival/livedsf13/

The European Seniors Team Championship finished on Sunday 28th July 2013 and was won by Israel with 16 points.
The other leading results were:
2nd Belarus 15
3rd Russia 14
4th Norresundby 13
5th to 13th with 12 points were
Italy
Hessen 1
St Petersburg
Germany
Sweden 1
England 1
Belgium 1
SF Katernberg
Austria
England 1 though equal 5th were placed 10th on tie break. A very good result as they were seeded 17th.
England 2 was seeded 32nd and finished 32nd with 9 points.
England 3 was seeded 54th and finished 50th with 8 points.
As to the other Home Countries
Wales scored 9 points to finish in 40th place slightly below their seeding of 36th.
Scotland scored 7 points to finish in 53rd place again below their seeding of 43rd.
A total of 71 teams took part in the event.
Next year the European Seniors Team Championship is due to be held in Sibenik, Croatia between 1st and 10th April 2014
