As well he might. How far do you have to go back before you get an achievement of similar standing from a British chesser?

A quick check reveals that actually Michael shared 1st with Vlad and Peter Svidler back in 1998 :)

Dortmund 1980 was Category 8, so not exactly a comparable achievement, even allowing for a little inflation.

Really pleased to see Adams win this tournament. An amazing achievement and well deserved.
