I also have a vague memory of seeing a couple of 1d4 games from Mickey somewhere. Was that Bunratty?

Anyway, good to see climbing back up the ladder.

So he did. I'd forgotten that.

I was thinking of something more recent, though.

Another great performance so far today from Adams, who lured Naiditsch into what looked like a vicious attack but which has just broken down as Adams has won the d4 pawn, and is +2.7 on Houdini.
They are in zeitnot time now so it's not over yet.

Kramnik won crushingly so we seem to be heading for both on 5/6 and the rest trailing.

Didn't Adams win more than just the d4 pawn? Did Naiditsch resign because his bishop on h7 is lost? Nice touch at the end of Kramnik's game, pulling the queen all the way back to a1.

Adams plays the two lowest rated players in the next two rounds, followed by Kramnik in the last round. No easy games at this level of course, but Adams could be looking at one of his best ever results here.
Agreed, what a game by Kramnik!

The results for grading from this tournament will be used for the September list, as this tournament ends on 4 August 2013. The World Cup 2013 ends in September, so the results there will count for the October list. I think things are fairly quiet otherwise in August.

Will be interesting to see if the form of Adams and Kramnik carries over to the World Cup:

Oh, they (Adams and Kramnik) are seeded to meet in the quarter-finals. :?

Wow - I sometimes throw my superlatives around a little liberally, but that was a really stunning game. It's not often you get to play Qa1! 1-0 is it?!

I've always had a soft spot for Kramnik and when he shows that he can play like this, it's brilliant!

Great to see Adams performing at his best with both colours, in a different style to Krambik though ;)

Great finish by Kramnik. I'm a bit baffled why Mickey left the Bishop on h7 en-prise for so long. I assume it has something to do with the g6 knight fork and the f3 Rook. Did Naiditsch lose on time or resign because of that?

Adams is going to win again! Early days but Kramnik may be in trouble as Black vs Andreikin...

Both games just finished: another win for Adams; defeat for Kramnik.

so it looks like Adams is at his highest rating ever on the live list... could be looking towards some more top level invites
