I thought the event was still struggling to fill the financial gaps; instead they can afford quite a bit of non-essential expenditures.

When is the last time an event in England contracted an artists for about £24k?

If the organisers could grab that money for some more basic purpose I expect they would.

I guess the sponsor wants what the sponsor wants... but if any MP asked to top up the grant had seen this article, I wonder what the reaction... probably not by chance the article appeared after the Norwegian parliament gracefully complied to (most of) the financial demands.
