Fearing Caruana
I went to watch the Grand Prix in Baku today. I have to say I was a little taken aback by how Svidler showed so much respect to Caruana. He seemed very pensive and reluctant to get into a such a sharp game with him and spent many minutes thinking after f3 was played. He didn't seem very happy to get into such a sharp game.

I'm a bit confused, he voluntarily played a very sharp line of his pet opening and in the interviews afterwards explained that's it's a line that him and Caruana have contested before and with reversed colours and it was Svidler who get his surprise move in first.MJMcCready wrote:I went to watch the Grand Prix in Baku today. Hmmm, it certainly didn't look like that whilst the game was going on.
