Problems accessing the fide rating database

Post by Adam Raoof » Fri Feb 13, 2015 2:16 pm

Is anyone else having a problem accessing ratings.fide.com?

At the moment and for a day or so it has simply sent me back to the home page.

No problems here. Though I wished I'd not looked at my FIDE rating card...

I now see I managed to lose 25 rating points in two 4NCL games in February:

http://ratings.fide.com/individual_calc ... -02-01&t=0

Which wipes out a hefty chunk of the 37 rating points I'd gained last July:

http://ratings.fide.com/individual_calc ... -07-01&t=0

If you look at the 4NCL games in February, I lost both games, but the ECF grades were 178 and 174 (versus my ECF grade of 167). The FIDE ratings were 1849 and 1871 versus my FIDE rating of 1959. In what universe is that fair??

(and no, they weren't underrated juniors, somewhat surprisingly)

Chris, with the new K=20 rating movements are alot more volatile

Looking at your opponents you are very similarly matched, looking at historical ECF grades

FIDE Ratings wise, one player is new to the list (K=40) so maybe slightly lower than expected, the other again similar to yourself

I would have expected you to get at least 1/2, it just shows that losing both games can now be costly
