Impressive, how he and Gawain have come back in this tough event.
The website is showing him as drawing but 5/9 looks to be sufficient (21743*/9 = 2416) http://www.fide.com/fide/handbook.html? ... ew=article
* Round 1 opponent rounded up to 2050.
The commentators just (1220) put up a list of norms achieved before the last round, including IM for Bisby. Congratulations!

Ah, the commentators! I went looking for that on the website...

Though I did end up finding this excellent article:

http://www.uschess.org/content/view/12985/806/

On Magnus Carlsen and Jon Ludwig Hammer winning the pub quiz. See if you can guess what their team name was...

Well done Dan! He joined Redhill Chess Club aged about nine and we thought he was a promising player, especially when his grade went from 106 to 161 in a couple of years. He very sensibly concentrated on education later, and thus neglected chess, but it's great to see him now closing in on the IM title.
