After labouring somewhat yesterday in beating Anton 2.5-1.5 in the semi-final and being in danger in game one of the final, Wei Yi at this moment has MVL in some trouble in game three, and is about to win the exchange. The live games only appear to be showing on the official site, which you can reach via TWIC.

A few minutes later: more than that, he's killing him, +2 for White.

Later still: 1-0, blitzed him off the park at the end. MVL must win the fourth game, due to start in 15-30 minutes, to stay in the match.

Wei Yi defended with an Open Spanish. Just livened up with 21 Nd6!

More exciting than So-Navara on chess 24. First game was drawn. So is grinding his opponent down in the second game:

LATER: Wei Yi held the draw in a long B of opposite colour ending. Wesley So slipped up when short of time coming up to move 40 but took control of the subsequent rook ending. Two more games to come in that match,

Wei Yi wins again
“I was lost in the first game, but I did not panic,” said Wei Yi at the press conference. “I didn't lose control of my nerves. Maybe that was the key to this victory.”
Wei Yi also said that besides improving his chess further, he intends to study at university in the future. And to the question how he would celebrate, the young talent simply replied: “With a Chinese dinner and sleeping.”

Wei Yi gained 36.8 points, but his live rapid rating is still only 2636.8, which will surely rise
