More? :D

Dominant performance by Caruana. Sad to see Kramnik failing to arrest his decline. I wonder if this was a good performance by Hou Yifan (a learning experience) or a sign that she might struggle to break into the 2700 club? What was encouraging was that she got some very good positions, though she did fail to convert them.

2.75 - at least, that's his expected/break-even score based on rating.

It was looking OK for a while......

It doesn't help that he hardly ever seems to get an opening advantage anymore, tbh.

I thought Vlad played an exceptional defensive game (for most of) yesterday. I was following it live from the Black point of view and his position looked impossibly ugly - and yet he still kept on coming up with good moves.

Played a good game for 95% of the time and still lost because of the 5%. This is a pattern that is recognisable to quite a few of us who are older than we used to be.

Incidentally, I think the So - Kramnik game was a perfect example of why most amateur chessers hate the Berlin. Impossible to comprehend from start to finish.

Well he did against Nepo.

"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."
