Re: 2nd GM norm for Daniel Fernandez
Looks like Marcus Harvey got an IM norm. Daniel appears to need less than two more rating points for his GM title.Mick Norris wrote:Dan was joint first at the Paracin Open
Lots of other young English players in the tournament

Re: 2nd GM norm for Daniel Fernandez
Paracin does not constitute a GM norm for Daniel because only one of his opponents was a GM.Richard Bates wrote:Looks like Marcus Harvey got an IM norm. Daniel appears to need less than two more rating points for his GM title.Mick Norris wrote:Dan was joint first at the Paracin Open

His average rating of opponents, at 2379.56, looks fractionally short of the requirement >= 2380.
Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

I didn't say it was. He doesn't require any more norms.Brian Towers wrote:Paracin does not constitute a GM norm for Daniel because only one of his opponents was a GM.Richard Bates wrote:Looks like Marcus Harvey got an IM norm. GM norms and rating for Daniel Fernandez
The thread title (from 2015) is now a little misleading. Perhaps Lawrence as the original poster should go back to his first post and edit the title.Richard Bates wrote: I didn't say it was. He doesn't require any more norms.

If the original poster had to do that every time a thread went off topic.........Roger de Coverly wrote:The thread title (from 2015) is now a little misleading. Remaining Requirements for Daniel Fernandez's GM Title
The original poster doesn't need to. The current poster can do that, as I have demonstrated here.LawrenceCooper wrote:If the original poster had to do that every time a thread went off topic.........Roger de Coverly wrote:The thread title (from 2015) is now a little misleading. Re: Random stuff about GM titles
In the list of topics, the original title still appears. I wish these people on the cusp of getting their titles would hurry up and get them... That would stop all arguments about this.

Christopher. I disagree. An heroic quest for that final norm, or a 2500 rating, shows how difficult it is to achieve,

Said heroic quest appears to have concluded in emphatic fashion: http://ccfworld.com/Chess/Results/2017- ... I_Norm.htmStewart Reuben wrote: [...] An heroic quest for [...] a 2500 rating, shows how difficult it is to achieve,

It looks like it. But maybe there are other results earlier in the rating period?
It would be a rarity if the rating requirement had been made with a win against his brother!

Re: 2nd GM norm for Daniel Fernandez
I have only just realised that Daniel Fernandez has transferred his allegiance to USA. Michael remains at ENG.
The CCF have not caught up with that yet.

I think you are mixing up the names, Michael's brother and the subject of this thread is this one: https://ratings.fide.com/card.phtml?event=5801605 not the American who was born ten years earlier.Stewart Reuben wrote:I have only just realised that Daniel Fernandez has transferred his allegiance to USA. That takes his live rating to 2498 - 8.4 +5.9 = 2495.5 unless there is another result that has yet to appear on the rating server.Alexander Hardwick wrote:Said heroic quest appears to have concluded in emphatic fashion: http://ccfworld.com/Chess/Results/2017- ... Re: 2nd GM norm for Daniel Fernandez
If the FIDE website is correct it appears that Daniel is carrying a loss of 8.4pts into this tournament, so presumably hasn't quite got there yet...
EDIT: as per Loz, above!
