Must be me, but I struggled to see why Chris thought that this game was interesting. It looks like what happens to me when I occasionally play a GM.

Miserable singing from Caruso too; his last chance was 20...Kd7.

Black's play in those two games was about on a par with England's batting at the Oval (92-7 just now).

FIVE MINUTES LATER: 92/8 (duck for Broad). Moeen Ali is REALLY wasted at number 8.

Tan's opponent today played as bad a game as Tan himself did yesterday, and that one set the bar pretty high.

Rambaldi on 6.5 (having only dropped a half to Keith), Keith & Jonathan on 6 with at least 4 others

Thanks Tim

Keith is 3rd on tiebreak playing against the 2nd, Jonathan is not surprisingly 7th after his poor start - I gather prizes are not shared (first prize is 2000 euro, 2nd is 1500 3rd is 1200 and there are prizes down to 20th)

Hopefully Keith & Jonathan can win today and black won't win on top board

Mick Norris wrote:Yes, not sure about IM norm chances, but James is performing just over 2400 and has played 2 GMs, so I assume he needs to win today both to boost his performance and to have a better chance of meeting a titled player in round 8 and/or 9

Ravi's performance is 2341 and he is playing his second IM today - I assume a win would be essential, but maybe not enough unless he wins in the next 2 rounds
Ravi and James both won :D - hopefully they can both win again today

James cannot get a norm as he has to play 5 titled players

Ravi still needs to play another titled player in Round 9 to qualify himself for the opportunity

I wonder what happened to Justin Tan today.

Morning start tomorrow could claim more victims.

Meanwhile James Jackson is a piece up after 20+ moves and Ravi Haria has a promising position.

As does Ireland's Stephen Jessel so I hope he can win today to get a titled opponent tomorrow.
His RP is good having played three GMs (two of whom he drew with) and he has two IM norms already.
Stephen's main problem is his time trouble addiction.
