Gawain won. Carlsen drew, as did MVL.
Now we get the Jones-Carlsen pairing?

Neither Chess24 nor Chessdom has any apparent interest in showing me round 17 or the pairings

Re: World Rapid & Blitz Championships
I'm told that Chess24 has the same software the arbiters use and should get the pairings first. So maybe there is a delay due to a protest or something... The worldchess.com site was running a video item about a silver chess set just now.JustinHorton wrote:Neither Chess24 nor Chessdom has any apparent interest in showing me round 17 or the pairings
Pairings just up: Carlsen v Jones!

Well, it is Carlsen-Jones. I got the pairing right, but not the colours.
I am not going to attempt to predict the result...

Carlsen won against Jones. He trapped the knight at the end.

1.5-point lead with 4 rounds to go is MVL's to lose now. The rest are fighting for second, surely.
MVL is 0.4 points behind Magnus in the live rating list.

With 4 rounds to go, Magnus could still win it.

Famous last words, MVL has just lost with white against Vovk. Gawain won against Petrosian, one of the pace setters yesterday.Christopher Kreuzer wrote:1.5-point lead with 4 rounds to go is MVL's to lose now. The rest are fighting for second, surely.

Re: World Rapid & Blitz Championships
Ooh, MVL stumbles. Carlsen trashes Gelfand. All still up in the air.
Gawain beat Petrosian, which is another really good result.
Kramnik, Grischuk and Vovk lurking half a point behind.
Grischuk on a run of 5.5/6.
Vovk on 5/6. Kramnik on 5/6.
Vovk, Kramnik and MVL have only lost twice in 18 rounds.
