Short clinging on to the top 100 by his fingernails. Apparently, back in January 2015, Gawain's peak rating was 2671 when he was world number 72. He is now world number 93 with a rating of 2656.

Thailand was on the list of Federations in debt to FIDE. There might be a doubt as to whether the recently completed Thai Open will be rated, in which case Nigel's loss of points didn't happen.

If you don't mind me asking, where do you get these ideas?

Is it not the case that FIDE will not rate tournaments from Federations that are in arrears?

See the thread about Ukraine.

Good news indeed :D

Final Ranking after 9 Rounds
Rk. SNo Name FED Rtg Pts. TB1 TB2 TB3 TB4
1 13 GM Jones Gawain C B ENG 2650 7,5 0,5 49,5 46,0 6,0
2 10 GM Akopian Vladimir ARM 2656 7,5 0,5 49,0 45,5 6,0

As he wins on tiebreak, I guess this must be Gawain's best result, he is certainly back to form

I did see that thread, and commented that the facts quoted were not correct.

I don't believe that tournaments cannot be registered by federations on the arrears list. That would in any case not affect the Bangkok Open, since it started before Thailand appeared on the list.
