Re: Shamkir Chess
As I said in my edit above, I think ch24 briefly had the wrong position (or I had an hallucination).
The pawn was eaten since Justin's reply.

An hour earlier judging by chess24 showing just over two hours until the start time. I couldn't see a schedule on the tournament website.Tim Harding wrote:Same time if chess24 is right.JustinHorton wrote:When's the kick-off tomorrow?

Now they are saying:Mick Norris wrote:Chess.com ...
which also says if Giri and Caruana tie for first, the latter wins as first tiebreak is number of wins
If anyone gets a playoff it will be Mamedyarov who is a pawn up on Giri in ending. Draw more likely?Correction: in case of a tie for first place a blitz playoff will be played.

Re: Shamkir Chess
If game continues as online engines predicts 45...Rd2+ (Giri's been thinking nearly a quarter of an hour about this) 46 Kc7 Rg2 47 Rxg5 the 7-man tablebase says it's a White win.
So a playoff looks likely. Good fun!
