Post by MJMcCready » Thu Jun 09, 2016 2:35 pm

Started today, the website is here http://grandchesstour.org/

http://chess24.com is also providing commentary.

World Champ Magnus lost in the first round on time, he was a queen up at the time!

We have video for round 2 now, so should be easier to follow. Big blow for Magnus.

Yes, and there is a ladder on the stage at the moment!

Changing the light bulbs, maybe?

(Apparently, the loss on time was because it was too dark to see the clocks...)

Topalov on 0/3 and elsewhere in round 3 Caruana is losing against Fressinet. Aronian has just cracked against Carlsen. And MVL beat So. So it will be Carlsen, Kramnik and Nakamura leading on 2/3. And everyone else(!) except Topalov will be on 50% (1.5/3).

Correct except for the rapid scoring as 2 for a win, 1 for a draw with the blitz being the normal 1, 0,5 & 0. Very impressive from Magnus to recover to be back in the joint lead after such a shock in round 1.

Round 6 wins for Carlsen, MVL & Giri leave Magnus a point clear (0.5 in normal scoring) with three rounds left.

Nakamura beat MVL after Carlsen and Giri drew in round 7, so they are tied for the lead.
Kramnik a point behind (in normal scoring) after beating Fressinet. Also on 4/7 is So and MVL.
Caruana on a bad run of losses and finishes against Kramnik and Nakamura.
Carlsen's run-in is Fressinet and Kramnik.
Nakamura's run-in is Aronian and Caruana.
