The Commonwealth Chess Championship 2016 starts tomorrow in Waskaduwa, Sri Lanka.

The event runs from 30 July to 7 August and there are 10 rounds.

Confirmed English players:

The Commonwealth Chess Association has a website http://www.commonwealthchess.com/ but it appears not to be the event website.

I see Liverpool is planning to bid to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games - is there an opportunity to host the 2026 Commonwealth Chess too?

Glasgow did this in 2014 as part of the Scottish Chess Championships, but would be great to see Liverpool hosting a major event again
