according to Susan Polgar: Final round: Nakamura v Akobian / Kamsky v Onischuk / Naroditsky v So. Who will be the next US Champ? Akobian, So, or Onischuk?

Re: US Championships 29 March to 9 April 2017
If there's no clear leader after the last round tonight, either or both events will go to a playoff on Monday. It will be a combination of rapid, blitz and armageddon games but that is all that is mentioned under Regulations on the official site http://uschesschamps.com/2017-us-champi ... egulationsJoshua Gibbs wrote:what is the tiebreak format?
Round 10 report including 'Dinosaur' Onischuk joining the lead in the Open and Abrahamyan messing up a won position against Paikidze in the women's.

Not much threatening to happen in either of the other leading games either.
Paikidze/Foisor the contest to follow this evening.

So v Onischuk, two 25-min rapid games starting 7.50pm BST. If they finish 1-1 then an Armageddon decides (no blitz match).Joshua Gibbs wrote:what is the tiebreak format?
Akobian lost to Nakamura so Naka and Caruana tie him for 3rd.
Well done to Foisor; some consolation after losing her mother in January.

From the Chess.com report:Tim Harding wrote: Well done to Foisor; some consolation after losing her mother in January.
After winning the game, Foisor said she was "sad and excited." IM Cristina Foisor died in January and never got to see her eldest daughter fulfill their mutual ambition. Sabina was playing this one for her. "For some years we always had this goal to be in the top three," she said. They never got to share that together, but Sabina sensed her mother with her this event. GM Elshan Moradiabadi said she was crying last night, wondering how she'd feel if she won her first title but couldn't celebrate with her mother. As her opponent resigned, she tried to remain stoic, then her smile won out before she finally embraced Moradiabadi and weeping again. "She wasn't crying about having won," Moradiabadi said.
The footage of the moment she went for the mate is in the report. Think its fair to say everyone wanted her to win and it was a nice touch by Paikidze who tweeted out later that she deserved it.

A win with white and a draw with black sufficed for Wesley So to win the play-off.

"I wish I could play with knights like Wesley does," Onischuk said. This is taken from the chess.com report but its the 20 Bg4!? move from So that really seperated the two players.
The Chess24 report features why that 14 move tactical draw offer was so crucial.
