2017 Bangkok Open
Nigel Short won a nice game in Round 4 as Black against a London System to go to 3½/4 in this nine round event. Very popular event http://www.chessdom.com/17th-bangkok-chess-club-open/

Nigel won another great game today to go to 4½/5. At present there are two others on that score Jan Gustafsson (2626) and Anton Shomoev (2543) but round 5 isn't finished yet and its possible that another three players could join them on this score.

Re: 2017 Bangkok Open
Nigel drew today so is in a group of at least six who are half a point behind the sole leader, chess24 media star RadioJan [Gustafsson].
Wang Hao is one of those on the same score.
Probably there are more players on 5/6 as chess24 is not yet showing score updates for players on 4/5 who were not on live boards.
As of 2.15pm BST there are not yet pairings for tomorrow on chess24 but they are probably available on chess-results if anyone cares to search and post the link?

A nice win from Nigel should ensure that he will be joint leader on 6/7.Chris Rice wrote:Nigel's rd 7 game against Armenian GM, Karen Grigoryan (2559) now in progress

Re: 2017 Bangkok Open
Gustafsson drew; Schebler and Rozum also on 6.5/8.
Nigel looks like he may have bluffed his way to a win from a much worse position thanks to exploiting Sengupta's zeitnot.
Still very complicated, though, as Nigel thinks about move 46. If he can win he will be sole leader.
LATER: now at move 50, Nigel has Q, B+6P v Q,R, 2P. He is just shuffling around making minor improvements to his position and creating sneaky threats while Sengupta is struggling to maintain his blockade and defend on increment. At move 41 he could have just allowed Nigel to take perpetual (unless Black had other ideas in the position.)
Chess24 is showing White's time as zero so he may even have lost on time; it's never clear with these relays whether the clock times shown are accurate.
EVEN LATER: Game is continuing. Deep Sengupta has grabbed a pawn and given a check but Nigel now has a very big pawn on d3. But he has to be a little careful where he puts his king and his own time is running low (spent over 6 minutes on replying to the check). His 52nd move may have been slightly inaccurate.
