28. Ra1 Rb4 29. Rxa6? Rcxc4! 30. bxc4 Rb1+ and Black is fine
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Lev Aronian is the new leader on 3/4 after MVL beat Hou Yifan. Carlsen-Caruana was a fairly uneventful draw.

A candidate for the most boring opening sequence ever created? From the ChessBase report "It started as a Petroff, which sort of told the story, then via a strange move order transposed into a French Exchange when Carlsen played 5.d3 and then 6.d4. The queens were off by move 14"

At least they manage to create an imbalance in the pawn structure and a "tactical shot" with Ne6 albeit I suspect that black had already worked out how to liquidate to the ending

I do not think Arkadij Naiditsch will be particularly impressed with himself tonight.

Your comment obviously spurred him into action. Lev Aronian won again to extend his lead.

Aronian, Levon 4/5
Hou, Yifan, Caruana, Fabiano, Carlsen, Magnus 3/5
Naiditsch, Arkadij & Vachier-Lagrave, Maxime 2½/5
Bluebaum, Matthias & Meier, Georg 1/5

Why not? On quick play through just looks like Aronian played a brilliant game?

He played 45...Kd5 in haste and repented at leisure.

Tiger Hillarp-Persson annotates the game for a ChessBase report and his assessment is that whatever Black would have played on move 45 would have made no difference and he gives an instructive winning plan on White's 45th. It appears Aronian is finally getting back to his best though he could have thrown the win away on move 30.
