Nigel has played 2 f4 d5 3 e5 against Eljanov''s Caro-Kann. He beat Igors Rausis with this back in 1998.

It's a shame that Nigel lost yesterday but he certainly has nothing to be ashamed of as he gave everything in that encounter with Eljanov yesterday and was really unlucky not to win. That game is analysed by Chess24. He's certainly had his chances to break through the 2700 barrier in this tournament but is back down to 2690.2 on the live ratings. Regardless of that he and the other five players have provided great entertainment in this tournament and were excellent choices by the organisers.

A fairly quiet last rounds with three draws albeit all with more play than the majority of games from the Grand Prix. Grandelius & Jobava finishing 1st= on 3/5.
