If you decide where you go on holiday on your political views you limit yourself quite a lot; Spain reaction to Catalonia would then change my mind
Here in Turkey the staff are vary friendly and the event is organised brilliantly, I have witnessed nothing to say Turkey is a great place to have a holiday

Fair enough. You can't be too careful, and probably the Secret Services of Turkey and Russia are scouring your posts for hidden meaning. If so, I wish them luck.John McKenna wrote:I'd really rather make my excuses - such matters are better discussed elsewhere after the event has ended - and depart without further comment here.

I second that. From a Congress point of view, I have never previously been to one so comfortable, generously provisioned and well organised.Alan Walton wrote:Here in Turkey the staff are vary friendly and the event is organised brilliantly
Unfortunately, massed ranks of lawyers are now flying in for an anticipated procedural battle at Executive Board.

No surprise there though you always demonstrate an excellently selective memory on that, your specialist subject.

I would be surprised if FIDE officials are paying much attention to your posts, but I suppose I could be wrong.John McKenna wrote:You forgot to mention your dearly beloved FIDE.NickFaulks wrote:Fair enough. After yesterday's draw, it appears he has given up any faint hopes of qualifying via rating. Maybe he is quite confident of the wildcard now?Mick Norris wrote:Vlad not playing today round 4 pairings

I think if he and his team were looking to "help" him gain points then he'd be appearing in the winnable white games. It was pointed out on chess24 that Mamedyarov's rating gain in rounds 1&2 was the amount required by Kramnik. Today's match looks like the most comfortable pairing that they'll get and so the top two are being rested and are likely to play the last three rounds.Matt Mackenzie wrote:After yesterday's draw, it appears he has given up any faint hopes of qualifying via rating. I'd hazard that the covert files on you are more widespread and far fatter than any on me.NickFaulks wrote:I would be surprised if FIDE officials are paying much attention to your posts, but I suppose I could be wrong.John McKenna wrote:You forgot to mention your dearly beloved FIDE.NickFaulks wrote:

Yes, agree with that; don't think Vlad has given up hope, but he did say that if he didn't play well here, he'd need to take a restLawrenceCooper wrote:I think if he and his team were looking to "help" him gain points then he'd be appearing in the winnable white games. Presumably he'll be black tomorrow v Naiditsch which will be difficult

Nigel Freeman is an avid reader of this Forum.NickFaulks wrote:I would be surprised if FIDE officials are paying much attention to your posts, but I suppose I could be wrong.
A few years ago a typo in a post of mine made it appear that I thought that Brussels was in Greece. Nigel emailed me less than ten minutes later to point out that that was not correct.
I wouldn't wish to speculate as to whether he scrutinises everyone's posts as assiduously as he appears to scrutinise mine.
