Awkward timing for the German contingent: https://twitter.com/Chess__News/status/ ... uyHMsZJ38E

"German chess players who play in tournaments with Russian participation will lose state subsidies. This is reported by the publication Der Spiegel."

I imagine the Ukrainians would be more appreciative if Germany stopped blocking military supplies to them.

By contrast, in the all German clash, it seems black spent nearly an hour on her 6th move if the timings on chess24 are to be believed, and was soon losing

I've been an hour up on the clock early on in that opening as well, although not as early as move 6.

I presume that is about the Muzychuk sisters. Nothing to see here, just a journalist struggling for a snappy headline.

Hasn't it become one of the established rituals of women's chess by now?

It has, as it was with the Kosintseva sisters.
