chessvibes has a story about problems at an event in Romania

Just speculating, but perhaps the biggest issue that annoys players who expect some form of payment for tournament participation is where the organiser promises but doesn't deliver. Is it reasonable to assume that British events are fairly high on the trusted list, even if fairly low on the amounts offered?

Re: Players v Organisers
Yes, I think as long as players know exactly what they are getting before the tournament then it is their choice if to play or not. Players do like to know when they will be paid, ie if they are getting a fee will it be in cash at the start so they can use it for buying food and drink etc during the tournament or if it will be paid after the event. It's nice to plan in advance, do you need to have cash with you, are you receiving full board etcRoger de Coverly wrote:chessvibes has a story about problems at an event in Romania

I am fairly certain this tournament was very rare in its problems and thankfully I've yet to have to organise a tournament where all the players have gone on strike. There's always a first time for everything though
